New Delhi: The coronavirus scare has now reached the Supreme Court wherein around 80 staff members have been found COVID-19 positive. The judges had started hearing the cases in courtrooms but will hear the cases from their respective residences now as the entire court is being sanitised.
The court has issued a circular today informing that benches will be sitting one hour late from their scheduled time. The judges used to sit at 10:30 am but from today they will assemble at 11:30. The CJI led bench assembles at 11 am which will now assemble at 12 noon instead.

Mentioning of cases has also been suspended till further orders.
The court was planning on hybrid hearings wherein the virtual and physical mode, both would be available to the advocates for arguments but it will be on hold for now.

After the lockdown was imposed, staff members were coming to court on a rotational basis so it is not clear how many staff members were going to the court currently. The total strength is more than 3000. Chambers for lawyers were also opened.
It is unclear what all changes can the court decide upon again in wake of the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases. The entire court premises, including courtrooms, are being sanitised.
