New Delhi: A Supreme Court bench on Friday asked the lawyers to refrain from relying on Right to Information replies as they are not very reliable while arguing the case. The bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said this during the hearing of a case against the Allahabad High Court order regarding a demolition process.
The petitioner in the matter had argued that as per the RTI response provided by the Gorakhpur Development Authority, the land in dispute was reserved for residential purposes in the master plan and yet illegal demolition carried out by the authorities are making people homeless there. With reference to the same, the petitioner filed a petition in the apex court against the order of the Allahabad HC.

The petitioner has also mentioned in his petition that the concerned place is reserved for residential space and the block park has been disclosed by the RTI. However, the Court asked the petitioner to not cite the RTI response as it was not reliable as per their "experience".
