The Sarang Helicopter Display Team has been gearing up for their final performance at MAKS Air Show 2021 in Russia. The team's spectacular performance during the last five days has brought laurels from across the world for both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Aviation Industry.

Hyderabad: The Sarang Helicopter Display Team has been gearing up for its final performance at MAKS Air Show 2021 in Russia. It is the only team from India participating in the event happening in Moscow. The team's spectacular performance during the last five days has garnered appreciation from across the world for both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Aviation Industry.

The air show, a biennial fixture, kickstarted at Zhukovsky International Airport, Russia, on July 20. The 'Made in India' 'Dhruv' Advanced Light Helicopters' daring manoeuvers have been keenly watched worldwide with awe. The team has gained the spotlight for the first time in Russia.

The helicopters, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, are equipped with state-of-the-art avionics and have hingeless rotors. These features make it heavily vouched for military aviation. The Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and the IAF operate these helicopters.

Since 2004, Sarang Team has been representing Indian aviation at air shows and ceremonial occasions in UAE, Germany, UK, Bahrain, Mauritius and Sri Lanka. The debut performance of the team was at the Asian Aerospace Airshow in Singapore in 2004 after the team's formation in 2003 in Bengaluru. The team also has its deep imprint in many humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions like Op Rahat in Uttarakhand (2013), Cyclone Ockhi in Kerala (2017) and Op Karuna flood relief in Kerala (2018), reports said.
