India cricketer Rishabh Pant is likely to miss the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy and IPL as it may take him three to six months of recovery to get back on the field. Pant survived a horrific car crash in Manglaur area of Uttarakhand's Haridwar district when he was on the way to his hometown Roorkee on Friday morning.

1. On Saturday, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Shyam Sharma met Pant at Max Hospital in Dehradun. Speaking to the media later, Sharma said that Pant was being looked after well by the doctors. Sharma said the Association president Rohan Jaitley was in continuous touch with Rishabh Pant and his family. "He had told me to meet Pant and his family and see how he is recovering. Pant is well. He spoke to me. He is confident," Sharma said. The BCCI is in touch with the doctors, he said.
2. According to Sharma, Pant told him that he was avoiding a pothole when the accident occurred. He also mentioned that he is confident of his quick recovery from the wounds. "Right now, he's fine. Smiling and making a full recovery."
3. As per reports, doctors who look after the sports injury department at AIIMS-Rishikesh have said that it will take at least 3 to 6 months of recovery and rest for Pant to get back on the field, which means he is likely to miss the IPL 2023.

Pant was left out of the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka beginning on January 3 as he was supposed to join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning programme ahead of February's Border Gavaskar Trophy. As of now, there is no clarity on his availability for the series against Australia.
5. Earlier in the day, Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher also met Pant at the hospital. "He (Pant) is doing fine. We met him as fans. Let us pray that he recovers soon and we see him playing again," Kapoor told reporters after coming out of the hospital.
6. Kher, who accompanied Kapoor, said they made the cricketer laugh a lot. "Everything is fine. We met Pant, his mother and relatives, they are all fine. We made him laugh a lot," he said.
7. With improvement in Pant's condition, there is a low possibility of him being airlifted, Dehradun SSP Dilip Singh Kunwar said. Meanwhile, Pant underwent minor plastic surgery near his forehead.
8. According to a statement issued on Friday by the BCCI, Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back.
