"It's July, where are the vaccines?" Rahul Gandhi tweets, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan hits back

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's jibe against the Centre over Covid vaccination drive triggered a row as Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan hit back saying there is no vaccine for the virus of arrogance and ignorance. Smriti Z Irani, Union Minister for Textiles and Women and Child Development raised glitches in Rajasthan Congress government's vaccination drive to counter Rahul's twitter jibe.

Hyderabad: In a scathing attack against the Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the centre over the lack of Covid vaccine doses. He stated it is July and still there are no vaccines widely available in India.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan lashed out at Gandhi's jibe stating that he put out facts on vaccine availability for the month of July for the public. Dr Vardhan chided Rahul Gandhi by asking,"What's his problem?" Further, he stated there is no vaccine for the virus of arrogance and ignorance. Indian National Congress must think of a leadership overhaul, he wrote on Twitter.

Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women and Child Development, Smriti Z Irani also locked horns with the Congress over Rahul's vaccination jibe. She alleged in her tweet that the Rajasthan Congress government bought poor quality oxygen concentrators that were priced Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 through brokers for Rs 1 lakh from private companies. Sarcastically, she wrote on Twitter that vaccine is in the trash and oxygen concentrator is in the junk.

The number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine in India is 17.2 crore, according to NITI Aayog Member Dr VK Paul. According to reports, 34,00,76,232 doses of vaccines have been administered across the country, informed Union Health Ministry. Meanwhile, Covid death toll witnessed an uptick to 4,00,312 with 853 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, reports revealed.
