Punjab CM urges Centre to rescue stranded Sikhs in Afghanistan

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday has urged the Centre to arrange the evacuation of Indians including around 200 Sikhs who are stranded inside a Gurudwara in Afghanistan. Several countries including India are drawing up plans of evacuating their nationals, following the Taliban takeover of the country.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday has urged the Centre to arrange the evacuation of Indians including around 200 Sikhs who are stranded inside a Gurudwara in Afghanistan. Several countries including India are drawing up plans of evacuating their nationals, following the Taliban takeover of the country. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has expressed concern over the recent developments in Afghanistan.

He has also appealed to the External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar to make immediate arrangements for the evacuation of all Indians, including 200 Sikhs stranded in a Gurudwara. The Punjab CM further added that his government is ready to extend any assistance to ensure their safe evacuation. Captain Amarinder Singh has also expressed concern that strict vigil should be maintained on all the borders of the country as the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan is not a good development for India.
