Srinagar: Militants in Kashmir shot dead a former police officer and his family members in Pulwama district late on Sunday evening. The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed this in a series of tweets.
Around 11.15 pm, the ultras barged into the residence of Fayaz Ahmed, a former Special Police Officer in the Jammu & Kashmir Police, at Hariparigam Awantipora in Pulwama and fired indiscriminately at him, his wife Raja Bano (48) and daughter Rafia Jan (25). The impact of the firing was such that Ahmed died on the spot while Raja Bano died in the hospital sometime later. Rafia, who sustained grievous injuries, succumbed around 4 am today.
Relatives and locals laid them to rest on Monday morning. The Jammu & Kashmir Police have launched a manhunt for the terrorists.
Leaders condemn the killings

No words are strong enough to condemn the cowardly attack in Awantipora that claimed the lives of a JKP officer Fayaz Ahmad, his wife & daughter. May Allah Ta’aala grant them maghfirat & their loved ones the fortitude to bear this loss.
