New Delhi: Despite opposition parties targeting the Nitish Kumar government on the brutal murder of IndiGo Airlines Manager Rupesh Kumar Singh, JD(U) has stated that maintaining law and order in the state will bear no fruits unless officials concerned pull up their socks.

Rupesh Kumar Singh (40) was sprayed with bullets while he was inside his SUV waiting for the gates of his residence in Punaichak locality in the city to open after his return from office on Tuesday evening.

CCTV footage suggests that the assailants were two in number and rode a motorcycle, police sources said.

Condemning the incident, JD(U) leader Sunil Kumar Pintu said, "Just maintaining law and order in the state will not help unless and until concerned officials pull up their socks. It seems someone murdered Rupesh Kumar Singh due to personal rivalry. Singh was a kind-hearted human being and shared affable relations with others."

He went on to add, "Bihar has good governance but police's laxity and inaction is defaming the state government. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar always interacts with the top police officials and always instructs them to maintain and order in the state. But top police brass is not concerned about people's welfare and is only committed to one's benefits."

Pintu alleged that the top police officers do not perform their duties well which severely impacts the performance of inferior officers. He accused the officers of inaction and said that people of the state are not afraid of the administration.

The murder of an IndiGo Airlines manager in Bihar's Patna has mounted fresh troubles for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and has triggered a severe backlash from the opposition parties, including its alliance partner BJP.
