New Delhi: Noting that Denmark considers India as a 'close partner', Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Saturday said she sees her New Delhi's visit as a milestone for the relations between the two nations. "We consider India as a close partner. I see this visit as a milestone for Denmark-India bilateral relations," she said.
Frederiksen, who is on a three-day visit, was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan. She was accorded a ceremonial reception.
During her visit, Frederiksen will call on President Ram Nath Kovind and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today. She will also interact with think tanks, students and members of civil society.
India has termed Mette Frederiksen's visit very important as she is the first head of state visiting India since COVID-19 restrictions are in place since last March.

Earlier, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi received Frederiksen at the Delhi airport.

During the day Prime Minister Frederiksen met her Indian counterpart Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. Both the leaders discussed the entire gamut of bilateral ties and reviewed the progress in implementation of the 'Green Strategic Partnership’.
"Welcomed Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on her first visit to India. Our Green Strategic Partnership will advance further as a result," EAM Jaishankar tweeted.
India and Denmark have strong trade and investment ties. More than 200 Danish companies are present in India and over 60 Indian companies have a presence in Denmark.
Both countries share a strong collaboration in the fields of renewable energy, clean technologies, water and waste management, agriculture and animal husbandry, science and technology, digitisation including ICT, smart cities, shipping, etc.
Addressing the joint press statement, following the bilateral talks, Denmark PM said, "We are two democratic nations that believe in an international system based on rules. Cooperation between India and Denmark is a great example of how green growth and green transition can go hand in hand."
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi appreciated Denmark for becoming a member of the International Solar Alliance and said, "it's a new dimension in Ind-Denmark partnership".
"During the COVID19 pandemic, India and Denmark have continued their cooperation. During our virtual summit, we had decided to establish a Green Strategic Partnership between our two countries. Today, we reviewed and reiterated our commitment on this," Modi said during the press briefing.
