While speaking over the matter, Congress Chief Spokesperson and General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "The second wave of Corona is here and it is hitting the country hard. The numbers are scary. Modi Government has left the people to fend for themselves. It has utterly blundered despite having one full year to prepare in management, prevention and making appropriate infra arrangements to tackle Corona."

He further alleged, "PM Modi is negligent, callous and indifferent whenever it comes to management of covid-19 disease in this country Modi government has jeopardized and endangered the lives of millions of Indians by it's negligent conduct."

On Tuesday, India reported the highest ever one day spike with over 1.8 lakh COVID-19 cases and 1,027 deaths. India has reached to the position of second highest number of infections after United States.

"There is a national emergency happening but the Prime Minister is busy in public meetings instead of addressing the issues of vaccination, health infrastructure, medication, life saving drugs, oxygen availability. PM needs to follow his rajdharma and rise up to this occasion instead of following adversarial politics. There is no 'you versus me' debate here, there is only a 'us versus corona' debate in this country," Surjewala stated.

Congress alleged that there is huge vaccine shortage across the country with Government of India living in "denial" or indulging in "abusing and attacking" opposition governments and leaders. Surjewala slammed the Center for continuing the export of vaccines to other countries.

Mentioning about the letter of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi to PM saying all vaccine candidates should be permitted in light of the huge vaccine shortage, Surjewala alleged that Prime Minister instead of replying this valuable suggestion, unleashes Ravi Shankar Prasad and Smriti Irani to level and hurl completely "baseless" accusations.

However, within 48 hours, thereof, the same step was being taken by the Union Government which Rahul Gandhi had suggested. "That's the kind of double speak, myopia and adversarial approach of this Government," he said.

Surjewala added, "Modi government is completely careless and cruel when it comes to ensuring provisions for medicines that are life saving, including Remdisivir, in ensuring availability of beds, in ramping up production of vaccination and stopping export of vaccine."
