Paradeep (Odisha): At least eleven fishermen were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard who were stranded near turbulent Sagar Island in Bay of Bengal on Sunday.
According to sources, the fishermen had left in their mechanised boat for fishing in deep waters. However, the weather suddenly changed due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, leaving them stranded.
Inclement weather prevented them from using the boat amid high tides in the sea. As a result, the fishermen were stranded south of Kolkata.
The Coast Guard later handed them over to the West Bengal Marine Police.
