Srinagar: Four militants were killed in two separate encounters that broke out between militants and security forces in the Tujjan area of Pulwama and the Tulibal area of Sopore in Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
The security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Tulibal village in Sopore after receiving information about the presence of militants there, a police spokesman said. The search operation turned into an encounter after ultras opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated. Two militants were neutralised in the process. "1 more terrorist killed (total 2). Search going on.," the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on their official Twitter handle.
In Pulwama, two militants have been neutralised so far in the operation. One of them was identified as Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Majid Nazir, who had earlier shot dead Sub-Inspector Farooq Mir, IGP Kashmir said. The operations at both the places are going on and further details are awaited. Kashmir, this month, has so far reported 16 cases of gunfights in which 29 militants were killed.
