New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday reiterated that Islamic terror outfit ISIS has been recruiting gullible Indian youths through the Quaran Circle group, formed by its India operatives. The NIA on Saturday filed a supplementary charge sheet against three persons namely Muhammad Tauqir Mahmood, Zohaib Manna, and Mohammed Shihab for their involvement in radicalizing Indian youths.
"This case was registered by NIA as RC-33/2020/NIA/DLI on September 9, 2020, after examination of Dr. Abdur Rahman (Islamic State Khorsean Province case) which led to unraveling of an ISIS module wherein the names of various persons responsible for radicalizing and funding the visits of Muslim youths from Bengaluru and Karnataka to ISIS areas such as Syria," a senior NIA official said.
The agency had earlier filed a chargesheet against two accused persons in the case. "The investigation in the case has revealed that charge-sheeted persons Muhammad Tauqir Mahmood, Zohaib Manna was involved in radicalizing and recruiting Muslim youths into the fold of ISIS through "Quaran Circle" group," the official said.
They were involved in raising funds and receiving funds to finance the visit of radicalized youths to Syria. "Muhammad Tauqir Mahmood and Mohammed Shihab had earlier visited Syria illegally to establish a connection with ISIS terrorists," the official said. It's worth mentioning that Quaran Circle has been formed by the Indian operatives of ISIS to radicalize the gullible youths.
NIA earlier got the lead of Quaran Circle following the arrest of Dr Abdur Rahman alias Brave. It was subsequently found that Ahamed Abdul Cader, Irfan Nasir, and other associates who were members of Hizb-ut-Tahrir, an international pan-Islamist, and fundamentalist organization, had formed a group namely Quaran Circle to enlarge their ISIS related activities.
