New Delhi: Soon after Maharastra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigned from his post, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Monday offered the NCP chief Sharad Pawar to form a coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.
Referring to the allegations of the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh over the involvement of home minister in severe "malpractices", he said, "I have never thought that the Shiv Sena led government will lead the state like this. I think the government will collapse in the next two months."
Union Minister affirmed that Pawar must think of forming the government with his party once he got recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, NCP leader Dilip Walse Patil has been given charge of the Home Department following the resignation of Anil Deshmukh amidst corruption allegations against him.
The developments come after Bombay High Court on Monday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to start a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into corruption allegations against Deshmukh by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner.
The court also directed the agency to register an FIR if any cognizable offence is found. The court also stated that Anil Deshmukh is the Home Minister and an impartial probe should be done by the police.
