Chhatarpur: A Muslim man saved the life of a newborn after skipping Namaz in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur on Saturday. The baby suffers from anaemia, a condition caused due to deficiency of healthy red blood cells that carry adequate oxygen to the body's tissues. Rafat Khan was going to offer Namaz when he received a call from the district hospital that a two-month-old baby was admitted to the hospital and was in dire need of blood.

Rafat Khan said, "When I was going to offer Asr (evening) prayer, I got a call and someone told me that a two-month-old boy named Vikas Gupta was admitted to the district hospital and had A+ blood, which coincidentally happens to be mine, so I decided to leave the prayer and go to donate blood to the child because saving someone's life is no less than worshipping God."

Jitendra Gupta, the father of the child, said, "My two-month-old son Vikas was admitted to the district hospital due to illness. At 1 pm the doctors told me that my son needed blood, I went to the blood centre when an unidentified man standing there conned me on the pretext of providing blood and ran away with Rs 750."

Khan is not a first-time donor and has donated blood at least 13 times in one year. The noble act gave him joy and satisfaction, he said.

Jitendra said, "My son's condition has improved now after Khan donated blood. He came like an angel and donated blood with a smile when my child needed it desperately." Paediatrician Dr Mukesh Prajapati, who is in charge of the special newborn care unit at the district hospital, said the baby's condition was stable after he received blood.
