The infighting has been brewing since the time Dilip Ghosh was replaced by Sukanta Majumdar as the state president of the party. Soon after the new state president reshuffled the state committee, the internal rebellion fuelled further and became public. The RSS leadership has taken a strong note of such developments and has already sought a detailed report on this count.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Ghosh said that he went to meet the RSS chief and "touch his feet". “I meet him every time he comes to Kolkata. There is nothing to speculate about this meeting,” he said. On the other hand, the rebel group of the BJP is hell-bent on their demand for the removal of Amitava Chakrabarty from the chair of the state general secretary (organization). Even a section of the rebel leaders also approached the RSS leadership with this demand.

Sources said that two more union ministers might be given charge of reorganizing the organizational network of the party in the state. Bhagwat is on a 19-day tour to West Bengal which is a record in the recent past.
