New Delhi: The national president of Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP) Minority Morcha, Jamal Siddiqui on Wednesday criticised the statement of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president, Maulana Arshad Madani for asking Muslims and non-Muslims to refrain from giving co-education to their daughters and said that people like "him" are spreading Taliban ideas in India.

"People like Arshad Madani are conspiring to defame the Muslims of India. Questioning the 'co-education' of Muslim women shows their narrow mindset. Arshad Madani should know that India is a democratic country, here things run by the constitution not by Talibani thinking," said Jamal Siddiqui, national president of BJP, Minority Morcha.

In a statement issued after the working committee meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind on Monday, it appealed to the influential and wealthy people of society to set up separate schools and colleges for girls in their respective areas.

The prominent Muslim body chief Arshad Madani said, "Immorality and obscenity are not a teaching of any religion. It has been condemned in every religion of the world because these are the things that spread misbehaviour in society. Therefore, we will also ask our non-Muslim brothers to refrain from giving education to their daughters to keep them away from immorality and misbehaviour, and to set up separate education institutions for them."

"For years, Muslim women were kept bound by the evils of triple Talaq and now they are trying to impose restrictions on their education as well," added Jamal Siddiqui. The national president of BJP Minority Morcha said that many concrete steps are being taken by the BJP government to empower Muslim women under the leadership of PM Modi, but the contractors of religion are not digesting this. "The big reason is the poor politics of the Congress, which never raised its voice for the rights of these women due to its vote bank politics," he added.
