New Delhi: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police on Monday arrested one of the key owners of a realty firm for duping nearly 4,000 people of Rs 400 crores through a housing scam.
The accused, identified as Hemant Tomar, was at large for a long time and a lookout notice was also issued against him. Tomar was apprehended at the Kochi International Airport when he was attempting to leave the country and go to the Maldives.
The owners of the realty firm offered Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats at Dwarka under a Central Government Scheme. However, DDA had never given authorisation to their firm to issue advertisements.

According to the reports, Hemant Tomar, Satendra Maan, Pradeep Shehrawat and Subhash Chand, office-bearers of Revanta Multi State CGHS Ltd, duped 4,000 people of Rs 400 crore under DDA's land pooling policy. Maan, Shehrawat and Chand were already arrested earlier.
Joint Commissioner of EWO OP Singh said that the fraudsters attracted homebuyers for investments in lucrative DDA housing schemes by putting out advertisements. Singh said that the buyers were told to pay developmental charges for the apartments but neither they were given the flats nor their money was refunded.
Giving further details, Singh added, "Hemant Tomar had formed a company Siddhivinayak Relatives and Securities and purchased 11.77 acres of land. The land was brought at a very high rate and then sold to Revanta Multi-State. Revanta had transferred Rs 120 crore to Siddhivinayak Relatives and Securities.
