Leopard attacks and takes 5-yr old girl from house in Himachal's Shimla

In a heart-rending incident from Kanalog area of Himachal's Shimla a 5-yr old girl of a labourer was taken away by a leopard at 10:30pm on Thursday. The girl's head was found in the forest during the search operation on Friday morning, however, efforts are still on to trace the remaining body.

Shimla (Himachal): In Kanalog area of Himachal's Shimla a 5-yr old girl of a labourer was taken away by a leopard at 10:30pm on Thursday. The girl's family raised an alarm as soon as they came to know that the leopard took the girl and ran into the forest. Police on being informed reached the spot, along with the wild life department personnel. At around 11 o'clock on Thursday night, the Wildlife Department and the police launched a search operation in the adjoining forest. However, the girl's head was found in the forest during the search operation on Friday morning. Meanwhile, efforts are still on to trace the remaining body.

The girl used to live here with her family. According to the information by the police, the five-year-old was taken away by a leopard from the tin shed of a migrant laborer living in the area. It was the locals who had informed the police about the incident. According to the local councillor Brij Sood, there are many labourers living in the area and they have pet dogs. It is being suspected that the leopard might've ended up in the area to catch one of these dogs. But unfortunately, as the girl came out of the shed at the time, the leopard might've targeted her.

Earlier, on Monday, a leopard had entered a house in Krishnanagar area and injured a youth, leaving him with 18 stitches on the head. However, the police and wildlife team managed to catch the leopard and made it unconscious with the help of tranquilizer gun.
