Lakshadweep orders curbs on air ambulance service

According to the new order, permission is required to transfer patients to Kochi in Kerala for treatment and a committee will decide whether the patient needs to be airlifted or not.

Ernakulam: Lakshadweep Administrator Praful Patel has announced restrictions on the movement of air ambulances from Lakshadweep to Kochi in Kerala.

According to the new order, the permission of the Fourth Committee is required to transfer patients to Kochi and the committee will decide whether the patient has to be airlifted or not.

The move has forced people to use a 16-hour long water route to reach Kochi for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, social media platforms have been flooded with criticism of the central government over the issues in Lakshadweep.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also slammed the government.
