Kolkata: A policeman allegedly started firing indiscriminately in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Friday. According to police sources, the accused killed a woman in the firing. They further revealed that the accused later ended his life by suicide.
Police sources said that the policeman identified as C Lepcha, posted at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, suddenly started firing indiscriminately from his service rifle. At that moment a woman who riding an app-bike was shot and died on the spot.

Later, Lepcha also ended his life by suicide. Police sources said that the incident took place barely 50 meters away from the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. They further revealed that Lepcha had joined duty at the guard outpost on Friday.
Senior police officials including Additional Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Tripathi and Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Santosh Pandey rushed to the stop. Soon after the bodies of Lepcha and the slain woman were removed from the spot. Police have recovered Lepcha's service rifle from the spot. An investigation has started to find out the reason behind Lepcha's actions.
