Kolhapur: Jayashree Kshirsagar was overwhelmed when she received a 'special gift' from her nephew Yuvraj Ghorpade. Never had Jayashree expected that her nephew would gift her something so precious as a gesture of gratitude for raising him as his own son.

Ghorpade gifted Jayashree a pair of silver chappals weighing 240 grams which costs nearly Rs 20,000.

Darkness plunged in Ghorpade's life when he lost his parents in 2010 at a very young age. When there was no one to look after him, it was Jayashree Kshrisagar who took his responsibility despite having lost her husband twelve years ago. Jayashree Kshirsagar runs a small xerox centre in Sangli.

Kshrisagar raised Yuvraj and his siblings as her own children and showered them with immense love and affection.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Yuvraj said, "After the demise of my mother, my aunt used to look after me. She never made me feel like an orphan and always took care of all my needs. So, I decided to express my gratitude towards her by gifting her a pair of silver slippers."

Asked about the jeweller who made these slippers, he went on to add, "I heard about a jeweller in Kolhapur who made a silver mask for his customer. So, I contacted the same jeweller Sandeep Sagaonkar and asked him to make silver chappals. It was Sagaonkar's first experience of making silver chappals but it turned out to be really good."
