New Delhi: On the second day of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visit to the national capital, his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said that the two governments have signed a Knowledge Sharing Agreement. In a press conference held after the event, Kejriwal said that the agreement is a "historic" step wherein two governments look forward to learning from each other to execute better development initiatives.
"It is a new step in the history of India that we have signed an agreement to share knowledge. We know that many state governments have done good development work in their own states while we also have contributed to introducing some good development models. Though none of the states have taken any initiatives to learn from each other, mostly because of political differences," Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal said that Chief Minister Mann, while on a two-day visit to Delhi with his ministers and officials, has taken a look at the "good work" done in the field of education and healthcare in Delhi. "He visited the schools, hospitals, Mohalla clinics, etc. here," the Delhi CM said. Mann had earlier implied that the Punjab government will replicate Delhi's education model in the state to provide quality education to students from all economic backgrounds.
The Punjab Chief Minister, after his visit, said that he appreciated the facilities being provided in Delhi. "Delhi has facilities that even Canada and the United States do not have. There are competent students, doctors and teachers in Punjab, but we lack the infrastructure. Moreover, just building schools isn't enough, they have to be made smart, with values and good facilities," the Punjab CM said.
He added that the aim is to make Punjab "great as it was, and not to turn it into California or London". "We intend to focus on health, education, power and agriculture. Our farmer suicides are more important for us than depicting the western countries," he added. Meanwhile, Delhi CM also slammed people who had criticized Manish Sisodia's visit to Finland to know about the model of education there.
"Sisodia, after garnering information, will try to implement Finland's model of education here. Some have claimed that Delhi's government is being run from Finland, Italy. What is the matter with them? Tomorrow they'll also claim that Tamil Nadu government is being run from Delhi, is it?" the CM said while referring to Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin's recent visit to the national capital wherein he had appreciated Delhi's model of education.
