Eranakulam (Kerala): The Kerala High Court on Saturday demanded an explanation from the Central Government on using the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the vaccination certificate. The HC sent notice to the centre on the basis of a petition filed by Peter, a native of Kaduthuruthi, Kottayam.
The petitioner said he had paid money at a private centre for vaccination and when he got the certificate it had the picture of Narendra Modi. The petitioner argued that the certificate he got after a paid vaccination is a private document and the central government has no right to print the picture of the Prime Minister on it.
He said it is illegal to include the picture of the Prime Minister on such private certificates for political mileage and demanded that the Cowin portal should have a provision to provide certificates without the picture of the Prime Minister to those who wanted the same.
He said the Central Government has violated his fundamental rights by printing the picture of the Prime Minister on the vaccine certificate which he obtained from a private hospital after paying money for it.
Hight Court will consider the petition after the responses from the Centre Government.
