Kanpur BJP leader's nephew thrown in front of train

In a shocking incident, nephew of BJP leader was reportedly kidnapped, thrashed and was left to die in front of a goods train in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. The victim's left hand is damaged and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh police has registered a case against some people for allegedly abducting and attempting to kill nephew of BJP General secretary Umesh Diwedi. The 28-year-old victim's left hand was cut after he was reportedly thrown in front of a freight train on Kanpur-Banda railway track.

The incident has been reported from Gopalpur village falling under Ghatampur police station limits.

Police said that a scuffle broke out between Lalit and few villagers when the former was going to attend the Ramleela programme organised at his village. The miscreants thrashed him, forcefully took him away in a car and threw him on railway tracks. Victim's left hand was cut as he came under the goods train.

Upon receiving the information, the family members, BJP MLAs Devendra Singh Bhole and Upendra Paswan reached the incident spot and alerted the police. Lalit was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre in Ghatampur. After an initial phase of treatment, the victim was shifted to Medical College.

Locals said that an FIR has been registered and few people have been taken into custody after initial inquiry.
