Anantnag (J&K): One militant has been killed and at least one civilian and one soldier have been injured in an encounter in Verinag area of the Anantnag district in south Kashmir on Friday, officials said.
Officials said that both were shifted to a hospital. According to sources, the security forces had received a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area, after which the police, army and CRPF launched a joint operation.

They further revealed that as soon as the police, army and CRPF started the search operation, the militants hiding in the area indiscriminately opened fire on the security forces, which led to the encounter. Earlier in the day Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that an encounter has started between the militants and security forces in the Anantnag district.
