India warns OIC to be watchful of their platform being used by vested interests for anti-India propaganda

According to the press note issued by OIC, the OIC Secretary-General raised the issue of Kashmir and the status of Indian Muslims during the meeting with the Indian ambassador. He also proposed to send a team of delegations to Jammu and Kashmir and sought an India-Pak dialogue, stating that OIC could be a go-between for a talk between India-Pakistan.

New Delhi: Taking a veiled dig at Pakistan, India on Thursday urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to be watchful so that their platform is not used for anti-India propaganda by any vested interests.

Addressing the weekly media briefing here on Thursday, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We conveyed that OIC should be watchful and the platform should not be used for anti-India propaganda by vested interests for comments on internal affairs of India or anti-India propaganda."

The response comes after the meeting that took place between the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Yousuf Al Oithameen and the Indian ambassador on July 5, earlier this week.

Sharing details of the meeting, MEA spox said that a range of issues was discussed during the meeting. However, the Indian ambassador conveyed the need to correct the misconceptions about India perpetrated by vested interests like Pakistan in OIC.

According to the press note issued by OIC, the OIC Secretary-General raised the issue of Kashmir and the status of Indian Muslims during the meeting with the Indian ambassador. He also proposed to send a team of delegations to Jammu and Kashmir and sought an India-Pak dialogue, stating that OIC could be a go-between for a talk between India-Pakistan.

Although no public statement was issued by the Indian embassy or the Ministry of External Affairs right after the meeting. It was indeed very unusual for the Indian ambassador to have held a meeting with the OIC chief.

India had time and again reiterated that the OIC have no locus standi on the issue of J&K, as it is an integral part of India. India has, however, asked OIC to stop making unwarranted references to India in its resolutions.
