India logs 31,382 fresh Covid cases, 318 deaths; active cases lowest in 188 days

India reported 31,382 new COVID-19 cases, 32,542 recoveries, and 318 deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 31,382 infections and 318 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 3,35,94,803 cases and 4,46,368 deaths, as per the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload has declined to 3,00,162, the lowest in 188 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.78 per cent, the data updated on Friday showed.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 84.15 crore (84,15,18,026), said the provisional report till 7 am on Friday. Over 72.20 lakh doses were administered in the last 24 hours, it said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,28,48,273 with 32,542 being discharged on Monday. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 55,99,32,709 samples were tested up to September 23, of which 15,65,696 samples were tested on Thursday.
