Covid-19: Active cases decline to 3,90,646; vaccination coverage exceeds 72.37 cr

India reported 34,973 fresh COVID-19 cases, 37,681 recoveries and 260 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 34,973 new infections and 260 fatalities push India's COVID-19 tally to 3,31,74,954 and death toll to 4,42,009, as per the Union Health ministry. Statistics show Kerala recorded 26,200 cases and 114 deaths in the last 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 3,90,646 while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.49 per cent, according to the data updated at 8 am on Friday.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 72.37 crore. The ministry said more than 5.72 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available with States/UTs with more than 7 lakh doses in the pipeline.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,23,42,299. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 53,86,04,854 samples have been tested up to September 9 for COVID-19. Of these, 17,87,611 samples were tested on Thursday.
