- Govt-farmers 9th round of talks likely on today
The eighth round of talks between the government and representatives of protesting unions ended without any outcome on Friday and the next meeting is likely to take place on January 15, sources said. Sticking to their key demand of the repeal of three farm laws to end their protest, farmer leaders told the government their "ghar wapsi" from protest sites on Delhi borders can happen only after "law wapsi" but the Centre insisted talks must be limited to contentious clauses and ruled out a complete withdrawal of Acts.

The Congress party will, on January 15, launch a nationwide protest in solidarity with the farmers who have been agitating against the three central farm laws for over a month. The party’s decision to take to the streets demanding the repeal of the three laws comes a day after the eighth round of talks between representatives of farmer unions and central ministers ended in yet another stalemate after the government appeared to harden its stance in favour of the controversial legislation.

The construction of new Parliament building will start on January 15 as it is considered auspicious for work to commence on the day of first dawn after 'Makar Sankranti'. Earlier this week, a 14-member heritage panel gave its approval for construction of the new Parliament building under the government's ambitious Central Vista redevelopment plan.
- Naval Coastal battery to conduct firing drill today
The Naval Coastal Battery, Mormugao will carry out test-firing of 105 mm Light Field Gun and 40/60 AA guns from Mormugao, Headland Sada, Goa between 9 AM and 1 PM on January 15, 2021. The danger zone lies within an area bounded by 220 to 260 degrees from Mormugao Headland Flag Staff position, up to a distance of 15 nautical miles into the sea and up to a height of 7100 metres.
- Power Finance Corp to open Rs 5,000 crore NCDs today
State-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) will open its Rs 5,000 crore public issue of secured, redeemable non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on January 15, the Ministry of Power said on Thursday. The base issue size is Rs 500 crore with an option to retain oversubscription of up to Rs 4,500 crore, aggregating up to Rs 5,000 crore which is within the shelf limit of Rs 10,000 crore.

Offline classes for students of intermediate semesters for both postgraduate and undergraduate courses in degree, diploma and engineering courses in Karnataka will begin on January 15.
