A case has been registered against four masked and bike-borne assailants for assaulting a bike-ridden hawker and allegedly cutting his beard in the Jhun-Jhuni Nehar Patri area of the district.

Meerut: A case has been registered against four masked and bike-borne assailants for assaulting a bike-ridden hawker and allegedly cutting his beard in the Jhun-Jhuni Nehar Patri area of the district. The case has been registered under the charges of assault and hurting religious sentiments following the complaint of the victim.

According to the complaint, Shahzad, is a resident of Bisaula in the Inchauli police station area and works as a hawker and sells cloth. On Friday late evening, he was returning home from the Jhun-Jhuni Nehar Patri area after selling clothes in Ranengala, Bhandara village, when four masked youths riding on two bikes stopped him and attempted to loot him but when they didn't find anything valuable with him they took off his skull cap and threw it down.

Shahzad said that one of them called him Mullah and took out scissors and cut off his beard and threatened to cut his neck and throw it in the canal.

Receiving a complaint of the incident, CO Mwana Uday Pratap Singh inspected the spot of the incident. On Friday Inspector Mahaveer Singh called upon the victim and visited the crime spot and made a thorough investigation of the crime scene but no facial hair or beard was found. In this regard, Inspector Mahaveer Singh said that the matter is being investigated and soon action will be taken according to the evidence.
