Gunfight underway in J&K's Rajouri

An encounter is underway between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. As the police and army closed in, the militants fired at the troopers triggering an encounter.

Rajouri: A gunfight is underway between the militants and security forces in the higher reaches of Barote village of Rajouri district in the Jammu division.

A cordon and search operation was launched on Sunday in the Thana Mandi area after specific inputs about the presence of militants there, Jammu and Kashmir Police said.

According to sources, as the joint team of police and army approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired at the troopers triggering an encounter.
