Excise dept bust rave party serving drugs in Kerala

Seven people were arrested from Kannur for organising a rave party and excise department officials seized narcotics drugs worth Rs 5 lakh. According to sources, the arrested gang also tried to attack the excise officials.

Kannur: Excise department officers on Friday arrested seven people, including a woman, from a rave party and seized narcotic drugs in Kannur's Taliparamba on new year eve. 50 grams of Narcotic drugs Methyl​enedioxy​methamphetamine (commonly known as ecstasy), 8 strips of Lysergic acid diethylamide stamps (LSD) and 40 grams of cannabis oil (hash oil) were confiscated from a group of youngsters.

The accused have been identified as Thwayyib from Narikkode, Mohammed Haneefa from Habeeb Nagar, Mohammad Shihab and Mohammed Shafeeq from Manjeshwaram near Kasaragod, K Shahbaz from Wayanad, Shameer from Taliparamba and M Uma from Koolivayal.

Based on a tip-off, Taliparamba Range Excise Inspector M Dileep and his team raided the hotel in Bekkalam. During the raid, narcotics drugs worth Rs 5 lakhs were seized from the rave party. According to sources, the arrested gang also tried to attack the excise officials.

According to sources, Shameer, who resides near the Sir Syed School in Taliparamba sells narcotic drugs in Taliparambu and many other areas and had organised the rave on new year eve.

Shameer had reached Bekkalam spa run by Uma. Shameer made acquaintance with Uma and also brought five more people in the gang.

Shahbaz from Wayanad is believed to be Uma’s boyfriend. Taliparamba native Shameer and Shahabas are accused in many cases, including those under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
