Srinagar (J&K): Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have killed an unidentified militant in an ongoing gunfight at Charsoo village of Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The firefight in the village located along the Srinagar-Jammu highway raged this morning soon after the security forces cordoned the area following a tip-off about the presence of militants there. Security forces sealed all the entry and exit points leading to the encounter site to prevent the hiding militants escape amid an intermittent exchange of fire, which was going on at the time this report was filed.
