Devotees celebrate 'Ganga Dussehra' in Varanasi and Uttarakhand

Devotees celebrated 'Ganga Dussehra' in UP's Varanasi and Uttarakhand's Haridwar on June 20. They took a holy dip in the river Ganga on the occasion. As per the Hindu Puranas, Maa Ganga descended on the Earth on 'Ganga Dussehra'.

Haridwar (Uttarakhand)/Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): Devotees celebrated 'Ganga Dussehra' in UP's Varanasi and Uttarakhand's Haridwar on June 20. They took a holy dip in the river Ganga on the occasion. As per the Hindu Puranas, Maa Ganga descended on the Earth on 'Ganga Dussehra'.

"Usually a large crowd gathers here to perform the rituals. But this year because of COVID there is no such gathering," a devotee said. "The Ganga Dussehra is organised keeping in view the COVID protocols," said Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar.
