New Delhi: With six more deaths due to Dengue occurring in Delhi on Monday, the total fatality count for the vector-borne disease in the capital rose to 23, as per a report put out by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The number of dengue cases, meanwhile, have risen to 9,500 amid 130 fresh cases being registered in the last week.
The six new dengue-induced deaths all occurred in the months of October and November.
Significantly, all the deceased are minors, including an eight-month-old.
According to MCD information, in the last week 131 new Dengue cases were reported in Delhi.
Till December 25, a total of 1,269 dengue cases were registered in the capital.

North, east and south - all divisions within the municipal corporation - in recent weeks have claimed to have taken necessary steps to prevent the spread of dengue and the generation of mosquitoes, such as spraying medicine and fogging relevant areas.
The corporation in its report has also mentioned that throughout 2021, a total of 48,83,233 houses were sprayed by the civic body while 3,01,73,761 residences were examined by corporation employees for any possible dengue breeding sites.
In case of larvae being found, the corporation fined each house in the form of challan, receiving revenue of Rs 14,95,150, which is a significant increase compared to last few years.
The dengue count in the capital in previous years, as per the report, was 4,431 (2016), 4,726 (2017), 2,798 (2018), 2,036 (2019) and 1,072 (2020).
By far the worst dengue outbreak in Delhi was observed in 2015, with the total case count crossing the 10,000-mark well before year-end.
