New Delhi: Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal, wife Harsmirat Kaur among 15 party leaders have been arrested in Delhi amid protests against farm laws.
Delhi Police have denied permission to the protest march led by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj to Parliament to be held today, citing DDMA Act. The Shiromani Akali Dal had called for a 'Black Friday' protest march on the completion of one year of enactment of the three farm legislation.
"Protest march led by Shiromani Akali Dal from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj to Parliament to be held today is not permitted in view of existing guidelines to prevent & control virus spread. Section 144 has been imposed in the New Delhi district," the Delhi Police tweeted, adding that legal action will be taken against violators.

The Shiromani Akali Dal had given a clarion call to take out a march to the Parliament House at 11 am on Friday. It is in this context that SAD had sought permission from the Delhi Police. However, the Delhi Police citing the DDMA Act in Delhi and Covid-19 prohibited demonstrations or gathering of people.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) has closed Shriram Sharma and Bahadurgarh City Metro stations on Green Line for passengers. Neither the passengers will be able to exit nor the passengers will be able to enter from these two stations, the DMRC added.
