Police in Tamil Nadu shot dead Krishna, the main accused in the murder of a fruit seller Veera, in the eastern town of Panruti.

Cuddalore: Krishna, a key accused in the murder of Veera alias Veerangaiyan (30) was killed in an alleged police encounter at the eastern Panruti town in Tamil Nadu state.

Upon receiving information, the police reached Puthuppettai Malattaru area where the killers were hiding on Wednesday (Feb. 17). It is alleged that the accused, Krishnan attacked police which led the police to shoot him in 'self-defence.' Sub-Inspector Deepan was critically injured during the encounter.

Fruit seller and goon Veera alias Veerangaiyan (30) was allegedly killed on February 16. He lived in Tirupatipulliyur Suburayalu Nagar in Cuddalore district. As per the allegation, he was beheaded by unidentified persons.

SP Sree Abhinav investigated the incident. Police said that Veera Alias Veerangaiyan's murder was a ‘revenge killing’ by Krishna. Further investigations are ongoing.
