Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh): Since the COVID-19 induced lockdown was imposed, life has not been the same for specially-abled Fatima, a resident of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh.
Fatima has been struggling especially financially since the beginning of the lockdown as her husband, Anjum Hussain who was a cable operator lost his job owing to COVID.
Fatima works as an Aganwadi worker in the social welfare department and earns a meagre salary of Rs 5, 000.
Before the lockdown, the two used to earn the average amount which helped them to live a comfortable life.
Fatima's husband also suffers from heart disease due to which he is not able to do work which involves hard work and strength due to which the needs of the family have to be taken care of by Fatima. She also takes care of the finances of the house including her daughter's education and her husband's medicines.

Although the department sometimes provides Fatima with some help, however, which is not enough many times.
Despite being a postgraduate, Fatima has been provided little by the department. Although she awaits promotion and salary increase by the department, however, till then Fatima will have to adjust with the meagre salary of 5, 000.
The daughter of Fatima also has a tough time as she is also affected by the financial problems and her mother's disability.
She all day long takes care of her mother and of the family as well and gets little time to spend with her books.
