Centre deploys 86 companies of central armed forces in 6 states

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has deployed 86 companies of the central armed police force (CAPF) to six different States with an aim to maintain the law and order situation. The decision was taken after the concerned State governments appealed to the home ministry for the same.

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has deployed 86 companies of the central armed police force (CAPF) to six different States with an aim to maintain the law and order situation.

"These CAPF companies deployed in the States of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Meghalaya, Bihar and Telangana will maintain law and order situation for a specific deployment period," a senior official in the home ministry told ETV Bharat on Monday.

"The personnel of CAPF will also assist the State government in their fight against Covid19 pandemic," the official added. The decision was taken after the concerned State governments appealed to the home ministry for the same.

Meanwhile, the home ministry has resumed the air courier service for CAPF personnel going to join their duties or proceeding on leave in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast.

According to a Ministry of Home Affairs' notification, the air courier services have got approval for seven months from September 1, this year to March 31, 2022. Following the 2019 Pulwana incident, the Home Ministry has made the air courier facility to the central armed police force deployed in J&K and North-east. The facility may be availed through Air India.

In 2019, the MHA has allowed extension of aviation service in respect of non-entitled personnel of CAPF and Assam Rifles too. The services were discontinued because of the non-approval from the Union Home Ministry.
