Bombay HC grants bail to actor Armaan Kohli in narcotics case

While granting relief, the HC said that the actor will be obliged to avoid indulgence in any narcotics-related activities. He has also been directed to present himself at the NCB office once a month, flouting of which shall lead to the cancellation of his bail.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to actor Armaan Kohli, who was arrested by the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau in August 2021 for possession of 1.2 gms of cocaine, after being interrogated in the Sushant Singh Rajput murder case. The bail has been granted on a bond of Rs 1 lakhs, a year after the actor had appealed for relief.

The High Court bench comprising Justice N W Sambre also additionally imposed a slew of conditions on him. While granting relief, the HC said that the actor will be obliged to avoid indulgence in any narcotics-related activities. He has also been directed to present himself at the NCB office once a month, flouting of which shall lead to the cancellation of his bail. The court said it would pass a detailed order later.

The 50-year-old actor was booked under various provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) for consumption, possession, and financing of banned contraband. The actor was taken into custody by the NCB following the arrest of a Nigerian national in the case.

Kohli has featured in several Bollywood films and also participated in a popular TV reality show. He has acted in films like 'Jaani Dushman', 'Kohra', 'Veer', 'Dushman Zamana' and 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo', among others.
