Patna: At least seven persons went missing after a boat carrying 14 people capsized in Maner of Patna district on Friday. Other seven passengers were rescued safely and a search operation is underway, said, officials. "Seven people are still missing after a boat carrying 14 people capsized in Maner of Patna district while another seven people are safe. NDRF team engaged in search and rescue operation", ASI Satya Narayan Singh, PS Maner.
The Patna, District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh, said that the mishap took place at around 2.30 pm near Mahveer Tola Ghat when the boat carrying 14 people capsized midway. "The boat capsized in the middle of the River Ganga. While seven people managed to swim to safety and reach the shore of the river, seven others went missing", the DM said.
The incident took place when all the passengers went to Ganga Diyara to get fodder for their cattle. Seven passengers out of 14 had successfully swam across the river. The mishap happened when they were returning home after collecting fodder. On receiving the information, the local administration rushed to the spot. Search operations for the missing people are being conducted with the help of the National Disaster Response Force.
