Soaring inflation: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh plans nationwide demonstration on September 9

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the labour wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, has called for a nationwide movement on September 9 in protest against the rising inflation. All the state units of the country's largest labour organisation will gather at the district headquarters to express their anger during the protest.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the labour wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, has called for a nationwide movement on September 9 in protest against the rising inflation. All the state units of the country's largest labour organisation will gather at the district headquarters to express their anger during the protest.

ETV Bharat had a chat with Binay Kumar Sharma, the National General Secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Binay Kumar Sharma said that the trade union is active for public concerns. The BMS also cares about its workers, nation and society. He added that the working class suffered a lot during the Covid-19 pandemic. People lost their jobs, but despite these issues, the government failed to check inflation.

He added that BMS has decided to keep the dialogue open with the government on this subject. The union has decided to hold a sit-in at all the district headquarters of the country on September 9. He further said that the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has also made its demands clear to the government and has also spoken of intensifying the agitation if these demands are not heard.

What are the demands?

  1. Make it mandatory to mention the cost price along with the selling price on the products.
  2. Petroleum products should come under GST. When the government talks about 'One Nation-One Tax', why not bring petroleum products under the purview of GST?
  3. Amendment in the constitution and make it mandatory to list the cost prices of all the products.
  4. Essential Commodities Act must be strengthened in order to prevent black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.
