Lucknow: KK Mishra, lawyer of L.K. Advani on Friday said that the special CBI court will give the Babri Masjid demolition case verdict on September 30 and it will surely be given in the favour of L. K Advani.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, KK Mishra said, “Lawyer fights only to ensure that facts are put before the court. I have also tried to prove the veracity of the witnesses according to my ability. Now the court will decide how far it finds the evidence and our arguments reliable. I have full faith in the court. I trust the judicial process. I know the court will do justice for us and in our favour.”

He also added that he has done his best to see how many contradictions are in the evidence. "I have tried my best so that the truth of the witnesses is proved before the court. Whether the witness is true or untrue, we have made all efforts in this regard to bring home our point. I have full faith in my efforts, my intellectual capability. I am hopeful that in this case I will be victorious as a counsel.”

With regard to the presence of the accused including LK Advani, Kalyan Singh and others on the day of the verdict, lawyer KK Mishra said "The CrPC says that on the day of pronouncement of the verdict, all the accused have to appear in the court. However, if the circumstances are different, then the court will consider if the exemption can be given to any accused or not."

KK Mishra also claimed that this would be a historic decision in a landmark case. "Perhaps there has not been such a long trial in the world so far. This is the longest case in the world in which so many witnesses have been testified," he told ETV Bharat.

There were a total of 994 witnesses in this case out of which 354 witnesses were heard from Rae Bareli. However, when the time came to register the statement against all the witnesses and the accused, many persons associated with this case were not alive. In total, the process of recording statements against 32 accused under Section 313 of the CrPC was completed.

"After this, the lawyers of the CBI filed their arguments. On August 31, on behalf of the defence, we filed our reply in the court while taking into account the entire observations and witnesses produced by the CBI. After this, the court decided that the verdict in the case will be pronounced on September 30," the lawyer of L. K. Advani explained.

Mishra informed a charge sheet was filed by the CBI including a total of 49 FIRs. The charge sheet filed by the CBI was divided into two parts. Its trial was underway in Rae Bareli in which LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi of the Bharatiya Janata Party were accused.

The Special CBI court judge Surendra Yadav has fixed September 30 as the date to deliver the verdict in the case of Babri Masjid Demolition, which took place on December 6, 1992.
