Visakhapatnam: At least eight people were reported dead following a gas leak from a chemical plant in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Thursday.
According to reports, there was a leak of Styrene gas from the plant due to which people complained of breathing difficulties, irritation to the eyes, skin, and nose.
What is Styrene Gas used for?
Styrene is a colorless flammable liquid that evaporates easily and is used in the of polystyrene plastics and resins, fiberglass, rubber, and latex.

Exposure to Styrene Gas Causes: Acute exposure to styrene in humans results in respiratory effects, such as mucous membrane irritation, eye irritation, and gastrointestinal effects.
