Bengaluru (Karnataka): Senior Kannada Writer, Researcher and Historian Dr M. Chidananda Murthy passed away at his residence in Bengaluru on Saturday. He was 88.
Murthy was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead at around 4 am.
He was known for his pro-Kannada stance and struggled for decades to place the essence of language and culture of Karnataka into the limelight.
The final rites of the renowned scholar will be held in Bengaluru followed by a funeral ceremony which will be performed by his family members.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, several cabinet ministers, and a host of other leaders and writers have condoled his death.
