Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand): In a bid to reduce the number of road accidents and consequential casualties, a student of Government Inter College in Rikhanikhal area of Pauri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand has invented a device that may help address the issue.
Ashutosh, with the help of his teachers, invented what he calls - Accident Prevention device - which when installed in vehicles would alert drivers about the presence of other vehicles on sharp turns in the hilly terrain through a signal emanating from the device.
"This device will help reduce accidents on sharp turns. I have been witnessing several accidents in my locality," said Ashutosh while displaying the device at a workshop in the state.
Acknowledging the efforts put in by the young student, Lata Sharma, a teacher at the Government Inter College and mentor to Ashutosh in the invention of the device, said, "Ashutosh approached me with this idea. 90 per cent of the work has been done by him, we simply guided him through the entire process."
