Sambalpur (Odisha): An auto-rickshaw driver from Odisha was slapped with a fine of Rs 30,500 on Tuesday for violating various traffic rules. This penalty was imposed in the wake of the implementation of the amended Motor Vehicles Act.
According to sources, the action was taken by traffic police near Laxmi Talkies Square in Sambalpur district and the auto-driver was given a hefty challan receipt for overloading and for not carrying the necessary documents while driving.
As per the challan copy, fine of Rs 20,000 for overloading, Rs 5000 for driving without registration and driving license and Rs 500 for the general offence.
Notably, the State Government enforced the amended Motor Vehicle Act in full throttle from March 1.
