1.Assam flood situation critical; 76 dead, 36 lakh in distress

The flood situation in Assam continued to remain grim on Friday, as five more deaths were reported, taking the death toll due to the monsoon deluge to 76, while around 36 lakh people in 28 of the state's 33 districts have been affected.

2.Four terrorists killed in encounter in JK's Shopian

At least four terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists at Amshipora area in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian in early hours of Saturday.

3.BJP councillor from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura beats municipal commissioner with slippers; booked

A BJP councillor and her husband were booked for physically assaulting a civic body employee here on Friday. The incident took place during the board meeting of the Nagar Nigam Mathura-Vrindavan. An argument broke out between BJP councillor Deepika Rani Singh and municipal commissioner Ravindra Kumar Mander who was on the dais during the meeting.

4.Rajnath Singh to visit Amarnath Temple today

A day after sending a strong message to China from Lukung, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Amarnath cave temple, Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The Defence Minister is on a two-day visit to Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army chief General MM Naravane are also accompanying him.

An earthquake of magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Hailakandi in Assam on Saturday at 4:25 am, according to National Center for Seismology. "An earthquake of magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Hailakandi in Assam today," NCS said.

6.Health Ministry directs Bihar, Odisha, WB, Assam to suppress COVID transmission, keep case fatality rate below 1 pc

The Union Health Ministry has directed the government of Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam to take necessary steps to suppress COVID-19 transmission as well as to keep case fatality rate below 1 per cent.

7.10.22 kg gold concealed in electrical gadgets seized at Amritsar Airport

The customs commissionerate has intercepted six passengers at the international airport in two days and seized gold worth around Rs 5 crore concealed in electrical appliances, officials said on Friday. Five passengers from Dubai were intercepted on Thursday at the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport (SGRDJI) while another arrived in a flight under the 'Vande Bharat' mission on Friday, Customs Commissioner Dipak Kumar Gupta said in a press statement here.

8.Telangana HC dismisses petition challenging Secretariat demolition

In a breather to the TRS government, the Telangana High Court on Friday dismissed a petition challenging the demolition of the old state secretariat buildings here. A division bench of Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and justice B Vijaysen Reddy upheld the government's argument that environmental clearance was not required for flattening the structures and rejected the plea by Prof P L Vishweshwar Rao and Cheruku Sudhakar

9.SOG arrests Sanjay Jain in connection with conspiracy to topple Rajasthan govt

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police on Friday arrested Sanjay Jain whose name had surfaced in a viral audio recording about horse-trading of legislators to topple the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan, an official said. "Jain has been arrested following interrogation into the FIR lodged on the basis of an audio recording that had gone viral on social media," Additional Director General (ATS and SOG) Ashok Rathore said.
