Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appreciated the efforts by scientists in Genova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd, Biological E Ltd and Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd to come out with a vaccine solution to tackle COVID-19. He also asked the companies to come out with their suggestions and ideas regarding the regulatory processes and related matters.

2. China to build major dam on Brahmaputra river

China will build a major hydropower project on Brahmaputra river in Tibet and a proposal for this has been clearly put forward in the 14th Five-Year Plan to be implemented from next year, the official media on Sunday quoted the head of a Chinese company tasked to build the dam as saying. Details of the plan were expected to be released after the formal ratification by National People's Congress (NPC) early next year.

3. Rahul, Priyanka urge people to join 'Speak Up for Farmers' campaign

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday urged people to join the "Speak Up for Farmers" campaign, amid farmers' protests against the Central government's new farm laws. A man was killed and six other suffered injuries following the open firing by the Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) on unarmed Pashtuns at Chaman-Spin Boldak (Afghanistan-Pakistan) border gate area on Sunday. The Pashtuns traders who crossed the border on foot with their goods, and some border officials exchanged hot words after the latter stopped the former from crossing the border, Dawn reported citing sources.

Dr Shital Amate, daughter of Vikas Amte and granddaughter of famous social worker Baba Amte was found dead in suspicious circumstances. As per preliminary information, she reportedly injected herself and ended her life this morning, said a police official P. Pendarkar from Warora Police Station. She was rushed to the Warora Rural Hospital nearby further enquiries are underway, said Pendarkar.
